Ancestor Figure (Alamblak):

The figure stands with feet apart and toes slightly turned in. It has a flat face and large nose with strands of grass tied through the septum. Crocodile heads extends downward from under the chin, from the lower abdomen and upwards between the legs from the base plinth. The Alamblak people of the Lake Gavanumus, Blackwater River area, are located south of middle Sepik region of East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea. Material: wood, shell, grass, traces of pigments; height: 1500mm.
